At 4:00 pm today, President Trump signed the Farm Bill, otherwise known as the “Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018,” into law. The bill legalizes hemp by removing it fully from the Controlled Substances Act and placing it under the authority of the USDA. Now hemp will once again be treated as an agricultural crop and be grown by farmers across the U.S. The bill goes into effect immediately and begins a process that allows states to submit plans to regulate commercial hemp farming.
